Mary S. Roderick

Mary passed away fighting a courageous battle with dementia. She was born and raised in West Barnstable, and was the last of nine children.

She retired from Dunfey’s several years ago where she worked for over twenty years. She loved: drawing, dancing, baking, cooking and walking in the mall. Anyone who knew Mary would be blessed to receive one of her cartoon drawings, which she was most famous for.

To her family she was times two strong, extraordinary, generous, had a big heart, was forgiving, charming, enthusiastic, Shirley, Jail Lady, and Love Boat, however not enough words to explain but most of all loved.

She leaves behind, her cherished family…Her husband of sixty-two years Kenneth Roderick, daughter Yvonne Souza and husband Jimmy, Barabra Prada and husband Tim, son Steve and wife Dottie, daughter Doreen Maddox and husband George, daughter Gale Barros and husband Mark, and son Michael and wife Miriela.

Her beloved grandchildren: Shannon and Joshua Souza, Tara Way, April and Adam Barabe, Tiffany Helms, Mickey and Gabriel Roderick – Barros, and Rhiannon Roderick.

Her great-grandchildren: Aimee, Nathan, Selina, Morrison, Taurien, and Kazimera. And several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Doane, Beal, and Ames, West Main Street Hyannis on Friday August 5th, 2011 from 3 to 5pm. Followed by a celebration of her life from 5 to 7pm at 26 Bristol Ave in Hyannis.
