Paula Levesque-Woods (Ploof), 68, of Hyannis, MA, died in the arms of her daughters at Cape Cod Hospital on February 27th, 2026.
A beloved mother, she leaves to mourn her children Andrea (Jenna), Arianna (Amanda), Athena (Dylan), and her brother Steve.
Paula was raised in Franklin, Vermont by Matilda “Tillie” Boudreau and Roswell “Bob” Ploof. She was also loved by her stepfather Paul Van-Tilborgh. Paula attended Trinity College and Champlain College and received her degree in special education.
Despite being a Vermonter at heart, Paula moved to Cape Cod with her first husband, the late Thomas Levesque, to raise their three daughters. She later remarried William “Bill” Woods, who was a wonderful stepfather until his passing in 2018.
Paula was fiercely loved by many in every aspect of her life: by her family, friends, and by the parents, children, and fellow teachers during her 20 dedicated years as Director of the Academy of Early Learning. Still, Paula will always be loved most by her daughters.
A mom to everyone, Paula’s was the go-to house for sleepovers or for her delicious home-cooking. She made people feel seen and loved, and was known for her love of music, her 12-string guitar, and for putting others before herself. She changed many lives through her work with the March of Dimes advocating for the health of premature babies.
Despite her health struggles, she was endlessly positive, learning the names and life stories of the many doctors and nurses that she met throughout her journey. She had a great sense of humor that never wavered. Paula hung on until the end, fighting chronic illness for the sake of her daughters. We thank the hard working and empathetic staff at Cape Cod Hospital for their constant attention and care to her treatment.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, March 7th, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm at the Doane Beal and Ames Funeral Home, 160 W Main St., Hyannis, MA 02601, with a brief service of remembrance at 2:00 pm.
