We honor Russ' life and his extended involvement in the community. I first met Russ when he and my husband, Van, and Ken Shaughnessy were investing their time, energy and vision into a better Main Street, Hyannis. The Cape Cod Chamber was fortunate to have counted him among our leaders. He will be missed.

Dear Sue, Jenn, and Caitlin, I am so sorry that you lost your husband and father. Russ was an important influence for me at a young age. Working at the Tidewater with you Sue, and Russ were the greatest working years of my life. You both taught me so about life and responsibility in those seven years. We were a team and I admired you both very much. I am sad he is gone, I wish I could have spoken to him prior to him crossing over to peace. My thoughts are with you all in this time of deep loss. Russ and I go way back to childhood days in Abington, MA. We lived only a few houses apart and shared many childhood adventures together. Basketball in his driveway, hunting squirrels in the woods behind our houses, picking strawberries at the local farm before school in the spring mornings (for a nickel a box), swimming at Cleves Pond up the street. Russ introduced me on a blind date to Mary, my beautiful wife of 55 years and counting. Our friendship has lasted through our lives. As time moved on we all moved on, but stayed in touch over the years. Mary and I send our thoughts and prayers to Susan and the family.

Russ was my best friend thru the years. I could always count on him to help me. I am going to miss him terribly. In fact, I picked up the phone to call today and then it hit me. He was in dire pain towards the end and I guess called him to come "home". May God be with him and his family.

I was fortunate enough to spend many years working and playing with Russ and his family. It’s terribly sad to lose him so soon. But like so many others who shared time with him, the memories seem to great to fit in one life. Russ always made time to get outdoors and enjoy time with friends. Whether it was hunting weeks in Maine, fishing the Cape or chasing a golf ball, Russ truly knew how to “seize the day” and helped those around him to do the same. I will miss him dearly but remember fondly the great times shared.
