SANDWICH - Sylvia Joan (Sears) Governo, 79, formally of Hyannis, MA, passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Cape Heritage Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sandwich, MA after a long battle with cancer.
Born on April 23, 1940 in Attleboro, MA, she was the daughter of the late Charles L. and Charlotte (Holcomb) Sears. Sylvia graduated from Attleboro High School and Fisher Junior College in Boston, MA.
In 1990, Sylvia moved back to her family home in North Falmouth, MA and eventually settled in Hyannis where she enjoyed the beach, reading, knitting, and shopping at the Christmas Tree Shop. Sylvia also loved her seafood especially lobster. She worked for the Attorney General’s Office as a Witness Advocate, which satisfied her lifelong ambitions to be a Police Officer.
She is survived by her three children: Jamie Hanson, James Governo, Suzanne Donlon her husband Thomas, and her niece Becky Heyer. Her cherished grandchildren: Kyle, Taylor and Jade Hanson; Katie, David and Erik Governo; Sean and Rachael Donlon, and several great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her sister June Blanchette.
