

Thomas Roberts of Centerville passed away of natural causes, surrounded by family, on December 5, 2015.
Born in New Bedford in 1931 and raised in Falmouth, he is survived by his wife of 59 years, Arlene (MacDonald), son Peter of Sag Harbor, NY, daughter Brenda Ajbour of Seattle, son Stephen of New York City, daughter Sandra Bascetta and her husband, Joe, of Colchester, CT, and son David and his wife, Alison, of Eglon, WA. He adored and was adored by his seven grandchildren, Etri Ajbour, Rachel, Caroline, and Miranda Bascetta, and Ruby, Marina, and Annie Roberts, and many nieces and nephews as well as his sister-in-law, Betty Jane Horne, brother Skipper, and sister Cindy. He is predeceased by siblings Bill, Bette, and Johnnie. He leaves an abundance of friends, old and new, notably his lifelong friends, Dick and Madeline Lopes.
He worked for Northeast Airlines for over 20 years then owned and ran Craigville General Store for 35 years, where locals and friends gathered for banter and storytelling. In the off-season, he worked with children in various capacities at Barnstable and Riverview Schools. He will be remembered for his generous heart, numerous shenanigans, and quick laugh.
Visiting hours will be from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home,160 West Main St., Hyannis. His funeral will be held at the First Baptist Church 486 Main Street, Hyannis on Monday, December 28, 2015 at 11:00 am, followed by a reception. Burial will be at Mosswood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Pavilion Activity Fund: 876 Falmouth Rd, Hyannis, MA 02601.
