Betty Jean Green

Betty Jean Green, of Independence, MO went home to be with the Lord on October 21, 2023, at Shangri-La living center at the age of 84. Betty was born in Kansas City, MO on January 26, 1939, to the late Gene Kenneth Lukens and Elizabeth Louise (Mericle) Lukens.

Betty retired from the Mid-Continent Public Library. After retirement, she continued to spend her time assisting adopted families on their search for their birth families. Betty also enjoyed working on the family genealogy.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Green.

Betty is survived by her sister, Janet Huff of New Mexico, two sons; Michael (Amy) Jones of Blue Springs, MO, and Mitchell (Cheryl) Jones of Texas, 4 grandchildren; Felicia Jones of Blue Spring, MO, Melissa (Matt) Shafer, Elizabeth Jones and Kenneth (Whitney) Jones, all of Texas, 3 great grandchildren; Kaden, Lincoln, and Parker. Betty also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 27, 2023, from 11am – 12:30pm at Newcomer’s Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050
