

Clifford Robert Paulson, 67, of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully at his home on October 16, 2022. Cliff had been hospitalized for a long while and just wanted to go home. He finally made that destination with peace and love surrounded by his two sons.
He is survived by his sons, Robert Juan and Ryan Luis Paulson, of Independence, Missouri, and two granddaughters, Clementine Rose and Angelica Louise Paulson of Kansas City, Missouri. He is also survived by his ex-wife, Juanita Reyes, sister, Denise Barbely, sister-in-law, Angela Paulson, cousins, LaVonne Ludke and Patty Phernetton, along with many nieces and nephews.
Cliff was a Navy veteran and served from 1974 to 1978. He also served in the Army & Navy Reserves for 20 years in Kansas City, MO. His retirement date from the reserves was September 10, 2001, the day before 911. He worked as a cook/chef in his younger years at many KC area food-service companies. He retired as a housekeeper from the VA Hospital, Kansas City, MO. Cliff loved road trips to places he wanted to go from his childhood. He was also a rock aficionado of bands that he enjoyed. While in the Navy, being overseas he saw many bands and also locally. He traveled to Rome, and Taormina, Italy, among other countries where his navy journey took him. Cliff was a cat lover and had many. He also loved nature and that was from his living in Montana along the Yellowstone River.
Cliff loved JEOPARDY and watching it with Robert & Ryan. They enjoyed that time together, along with football games and cooking shows. In his day, Cliff was a cook and grill man, and loved to feed the masses. He also was a blood donor and donated 10 gallons over five years. Last winter, he spent hours ringing a bell for the Salvation Army at Bass Pro Shop in Independence. He always had a smile and joked with anyone he came in contact with, that was just his nature.
Cliff touched a lot of people's hearts with his kind and giving nature. He had a gracious heart, and it showed with his intentions, actions, and grace. His smile and blue eyes lit up a room. Cliff will be missed by everyone that knew him along with his friends and family.
The family would like to thank everyone for the food, phone calls, prayers, and the support for him while he was in the hospitals the last four months. The family would also like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Kansas City VA Hospital, and Centerpoint Medical Center, along with Traditions Hospice.
There is no immediate memorial service at this time, but a military honors is planned for a future date at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery-Higginsville, MO.
