

He was the son of Frank and Ellen Bernhardy. He served in the Army during WW2 in Korea and had an honorable discharge, he then became employes at Sheffield Steel where he worked for 30 years, working in the nut and bolt, ball bearing and rod mill department ending up in the rod mil, and became a hoisting engineer and a crane operator in the Rod Mill and retired in that position.
He and his wife Concha traveled during retirement, sending much of their time in Montana, Nevada and Mexico. They enjoyed gambling in Laughlin, Nevada and visiting Concha's family in Mexico, after which he would always return for Crappie season, which he spent at Stockton Lake. After the fishing was done, he would return to his home on Adams in Independence to rest for a few months and start traveling all over again.
He is survived by his sons Bruce and Ronnie and a daughter, Pam. Seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren thirteen step grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, located at 509 S Noland Rd, Independence, MO 64050, on August 11, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
Following the Celebration of Life, a Funeral Service will take place at the same venue on August 11, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm.
