Julia Marie Terry

Julie Terry, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 9, 2025, at the age of 79. She was born on October 20, 1946, and throughout her life she embodied love, strength, and devotion to her family.

Julie married Charles Richard (Rick) Terry, and together they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage, building a life filled with love and laughter. They were blessed with four children: Sandy (Dale) Thurman, Susan (Dan) Pittman, Cindy (Tasi) Malaeulu, and Mike (Shay) Terry. Julie’s greatest joy was her family, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

She was the proud grandmother of nine: Amanda (Tyson) Oldham, Ashley (Ryland) Mudd, Ellie, Ryan, Jonathan, and Adam Pittman, Brayden, Cooper, and Dawson Terry. Her legacy continues through her five great-grandchildren: Leighton and Emerson Oldham, Maizee, Meredith, and Morgan Mudd.

Julie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Marie Birk, and her brothers, Jim and Dennis Birk. She is survived by her sister, Donna Ruble, her devoted husband, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Early in their marriage, Julie worked as a school bus driver and dietician, but later devoted herself to working from home as a child care provider, nurturing countless children with her warmth and care. She loved to bake, sew, craft, shop, and travel, passions that brought joy to her life and those around her.

Julie’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love touched all who knew her. She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her devotion to family, and the countless ways she enriched the lives of those around her.

Services will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Newcomers Funeral Home, 509 S. Noland Road, Independence, MO. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., followed by the service at 6:00 p.m.

Julie’s love will live on in the hearts of her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know her.
