Leonard Lewis, 89, of Grain Valley, MO, passed away July 18, 2022. He was born June 27, 1933 in KC, MO, to Susie and Claude Lewis and had many brothers and sisters that have preceded him in death, except for 1 sister, Helen Locke. He grew up in the Fairmont area.
At the age of 25, on May 10, 1958, Leonard married the love of his life, Lois Lewis, together they raised three children, a daughter, Bernita Gorenflo of Houston, TX and two sons, Leonard Jr (Dolores) of Grain Valley, MO and Larry (Kim) of Independence, MO.
From a young age, Leonard was a man of many activities including Golden Gloves Boxing, Stockcar Racing, Fireman for the city of Independence, he was a licensed pilot, rode motorcycles, was an avid hunter and he ran 3 successful construction businesses; basement, excavating and home builder. Together he and Lois frequently bought and sold many of the homes that they built. They shared several vacation homes in Lake Pomme de Terre, where many memories were made with family and friends. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
Leonard leaves behind a loving family, including 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Leonard's memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital and/or Children's Mercy Hospital.
