Leslie was born on March 6, 1932, to Alma and Leslie Nerbas in Miles City, Montana. She was an only child. She graduated from Amundson High School in Chicago, Illinois. After graduating she married John (Jack) Bush in 1951. Leslie was predeceased by him in 2020. She met Jack at Ravenswood Elementary School in the fifth grade, in the 1940s, in Chicago, Illinois. They went on to have five children, Patti, Joanne, Michael, Carolyn, and Kathleen. They lived together in Illinois, Arizona, Montana, Texas, and Missouri through their 69 years of marriage. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
Leslie was very involved with each one of her children, calling them every day on the phone. She kept the family together by sharing with each of her children what the other kids were doing. There wasn't anything anyone didn't know about the others. She was the Rock of the family.
Despite her large family, Leslie always made time for every one of her kids. She was more than happy to be the hub of the wheel. Anyone who knew her, knew her children were the stars in her eyes and that they were all that mattered to her.
Leslie was mainly a housewife raising her own family and grandchildren, although she worked for many years off and on taking care of other people's homes doing their shopping, cooking, cleaning, and raising children who she never lost touch with. She loved feeding every bird, cat, raccoon, opossum or squirrel she knew was on the other side of her back door. She loved her squirrels the most.
Leslie and Jack were together for more than 80 years. They traveled extensively and saw many places, people, and things. Later in life they would take off for lunch and not get home till midnight because they were "exploring" everything they could.
Her family grieves her loss, but they take comfort knowing that Leslie and Jack are together again.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for 37 years and the Aarat Shrine, Legion of Honor.
Leslie was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by Patti Alderson, Joanne Hinkebein, Michael Bush, Carolyn Luther (Ron), and Kathy Rimmer-Dostal (Dave).
A funeral service will be held at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S Noland Road, Independence, Missouri 64050 on Saturday, January 22, 2022, beginning at 11:30 am with burial to follow immediately after at Longview Cemetery, 12700 SE Raytown Road, Kansas City, Missouri, 64149.
