

She was a member of the St. Paul AME Church and an active member of the St. Paul Women’s Missionary Society. Maomi was born on June 19, 1928, in Hugo Oklahoma, she was the identical twin sister of Naomi Shaw, who predeceased her in November of 2021; they were born to Howard Gibbs and Carrie Bledsoe Gibbs.
Maomi attended public school in Hugo, Oklahoma graduating from Booker T Washington High School. Following graduation from High School she and her identical twin sister moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she worked and was trained as a surgical technician and ophthalmology medical assistant. She retired from KU Medical Center after 43 years of service.
Maomi was married to Henry R. Pearley for over 50 years. She loved cooking and she and Henry were avid campers.
Maomi was predeceased by her identical twin sister Naomi M Shaw, one brother, Vann D Perry, sister Elizabeth Johnson, daughter Janis Marie Harper, son Maurice Harper and great grandson Maurice Brown.
Maomi leaves to mourn and cherish her memories: Henry Pearley (Husband), Myra Harper (daughter), Kelly Renee Markham-Stegall (granddaughter), Liam Stegall (great grandson), Qiana Markham (granddaughter), Kevin Brown (grandson), Summer Brown (great granddaughter), Starlit Brown (great granddaughter) and Freedom Brown (great grandson) Marletha Renee McClunie-Davis (granddaughter), Marcus Rashaad Harper (grandson) several granddaughters, grandsons’ , great grandchildren, cousins and a host of friends and fellow missionaries whom she considered to be family.
Services for Maomi will be 11:00 am Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64050. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment Woodlawn Cemetery, Independence, Missouri.
