

Richard was born February 12, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri to Howard and Genevieve (Ransom) Salisbury. Richard graduated from Northeast High School in 1951. He served 3 years and 8 months in the United States Navy. Richard worked for Western Union Telegraph Company for 22 years and then Butler Manufactory Company for 17 years until he retired in 1995. He had lots of technical school training and even helped fix and taught the FBI on their equipment. Richard was an American and World History buff and was very fond of President Franklin Roosevelt. He was an artist with woodworking and carving, loved working on cars and bicycles and loved the KC Chiefs.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, brother Howard Salisbury and a son Kurt Salisbury.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years Mary (Hendren) Salisbury, daughter Roxane Davis, 2 sons Kevin (Karen) Salisbury and Gerald Salisbury. Grandchildren Robert and John Taylor, Kyle, Keith, Austin, Nathan and Brooke Salisbury, great grandchildren Jackson and Ryin Taylor and Madeleine, Claire and Liam Salisbury. His brother-in-law Vencil Hendren and 2 sisters-in-law Jean Risley and Marjorie Kietlinski and many nieces and nephews. Also, a family friend Mike Telford.
The family would like to thank Independence Manor and and Traditions Hospice for the care they gave Richard.
A visitation for Richard will be held Friday, November 1, 2024, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Newcomer's Noland Road Chapel, 509 S Noland Rd, Independence, Missouri 64050, followed by a funeral service at 1:30 PM. Committal with military honors will follow at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, 25203 E US Hwy 50, Lee's Summit, Missouri 64086. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Richard's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
