She was born in Germany at the beginning of WWII. After the war, she met her husband, Richard J. Koop, of 63 years while he was serving in the US Military in West Germany. She married and left her home for a new life as a wife and mother in a foreign country and new continent. In making this move, leaving everything and everyone she knew, behind for a new life she was guided by her faith, a faith which has defined her life and inspired everyone she met and befriended in her many happy years on this earth. Richard and Sigrid settled in the Kansas City area. While she had a long career in banking, she considered being a wife and mother as her true vocation. She brightened the lives of her friends and family until her last days when God called her home.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, a daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews, and numerous friends who considered her as an adoptive mother and were proud to call her mom.
