Ted Kastner was born February 18, 1935 in Downers Grove, IL to Bonnie F.
Morgan and Adolph Joseph Kastner. The family moved to Stover, MO and Ted
graduated from Stover High School. Soon after, Ted moved to Independence,
MO where he would live for the remainder of his life.
After moving to Independence, Ted became the President of the Union at
Alice Chalmers. After finding his passion for motorcycles he then started his
own business, Independence Kawasaki. His first motorcycle shop was on
23rd and Noland (had a dirt floor). After a few other locations, he landed
permanently at 23rd and Maywood. In November of 1977, Ted met Peggy, the
love of his life. They got married in Las Vegas, NV in 1985. Ted and Peggy
enjoyed taking many trips together, and would spend summers at the Lake of
the Ozarks. Ted loved going to visit Peggy’s family who resided in Harrison,
Arkansas so that he could go fishing.
One of his passions was attending and watching sporting events. Ted and
Peggy had season tickets to the Kansas City Kings during the 1980’s. He
loved the Chiefs, Royals, and Kansas Jayhawk basketball. Once Ted and
Peggy became grandparents, he rarely missed any of their sporting events.
Ted will be dearly missed, and memories will be cherished for a lifetime. He
was always teaching life lessons and constantly supporting his family.
Ted is survived by his wife of 36 years, Peggy, sons: Shane and Roger; Step
Son: Kevin Meyer (deceased); Step Daughter: Marsha Janes; Brother: Johnny
