The funeral service will be held in Balgonie United Church, Balgonie, SK on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Bev Diduck officiating. Interment in Broadview Cemetery.
Thelma was predeceased by her husband and two brothers.
She is survived by her children: Wynona (Euan McPhee) Wright, Naomi (John) McLeod, Wanda (John) Barr, Myra (Ray) Sigmeth, David (Janet) Wright, former son-in-law, Leonard Widdup, thirteen grandchildren: Catriona Parker, Chris McLeod, Arthur McLeod, P.J. Barr, Wendy Barr, Ryan Widdup, Jeremy Widdup, Josh Widdup, Janelle David, Kristen Sigmeth, Brandon Wright; Jody Spriggs and Andy Wright; twenty-two great grandchildren: Ethan Parker, Quinn McLeod, Aidan McLeod, Riley Gamble, Charlie Barr, Rhys Powell, Isaac Widdup, Nate Widdup, Micah Widdup, Edan Widdup, Ava Widdup, Ryder Widdup, Ella Lee Widdup, James David, David Wright Koskamp, Ben Wright Koskamp, Gabriella Wright Koskamp, Thomas Spriggs, Daniel Spriggs, Mya White, Mason White and Marie White; two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Thelma was born in Lintlaw, Sk to Edna (Brumbaugh) and Rev. Arthur Ashley. She married Christian Ernst (Ernie) Wright Feb.18, 1945 Together they raised a family of five children; Nona, Naomi, Wanda, Myra and David.
Thelma was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a voracious reader with a thirst for education. Her working life involved accounting, auditing, and office administration. In 1969 she obtained her A level certificate in Administration and became the R.M. Secretary of Elcapo in Broadview.
She was very community minded, served as Mayor of Broadview and on many boards and committees wherever she lived including Mazenod, Broadview, Round Lake and Balgonie. She was involved in church life for her whole life. She loved to curl and watch curling. Her centennial project was to travel every road in Saskatchewan in search of all the parks and historic sites.
