Ann “Buffy” Moosbrugger, 57, of Indianapolis departed this life at home in her bed Saturday, March 14, 2026. Buffy was born in 1968 in Huntington, WV, the daughter of John and Ann Krieger and little sister of Jace Krieger of Huntington, WV. She was a beautiful and active child who loved the outdoors, singing, and performing. She also was a prodigious swimmer – so much so that she moved away from home to live with a sponsor/swimming family in the Cincinnati area at the age of 15, and later won a full-ride scholarship to LSU and a spot on the USA Swimming National Team, and actually held the World Record in the 200m Freestyle along with many other records nationally, as well as at her YMCA and her various schools. Later she transferred to the University of South Carolina and their team and graduated. She was always gregarious and fun and made many dear friends that she cherished at each stop along her way.
She enjoyed a bevy of wonderful friends in Cincy; Buffy moved back to Cincinnati, coached and recruited for Univ. of Cincinnati Swim Team for a while before going to work in the field of finance where her overachiever nature lead her to be the Number 1 sales person over the phone for Fidelity Investments. She was so good they transferred her to work (in person) in one of the highest value branches in the country in NJ, so she moved to Hoboken.
In Cincy at a friend’s wedding she met her future husband, Frank Moosbrugger, and later wanted to move back to the midwest in Indianapolis where she transferred to Schwaab and TD Ameritrade. Baptised into the Catholic Church and married in 04; Buffy and Frank were members of St. Joan of Arc Parish. Buffy achieved her greatest goal of motherhood after they adopted Gracee in 08. Buffy was excited she’ll follow in her footsteps to LSU this Fall.
She was a doting mother to Gracee and always doting dog-mom too. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jace Krieger. She loved her parents and called them every day after leaving home at an early age. Buffy had many health issues over many years that she toughed out – one after the other, culminating with congestive heart disease.
Visitation will be from 10am – 11am on Wednesday, April 1st at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4217 Central Ave, Indianapolis 46205, followed by Funeral Mass. Peace meal to follow at the church. Flowers and/or memorial contributions or tributes may be offered at: www.feeneyhornakkeystone.com
