Anna L. Brasher, age 80, the daughter of Otis W. Martin Sr. and Annie M. (Woodson) Martin, was born on October 3, 1945 in Glasgow, Kentucky, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with a long term illness.
Her early years were marked by the simple joys of a typical childhood leading to her graduation from Shortridge High School in 1963 and shortly thereafter, united in Holy matrimony to Joe A. Brasher.
Anna’s joyful and caring spirit impacted the lives of many, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of her commitment and service to our Lord and Savior, love of her family and friends and her amazing strength and resilience. Known for her quick wit, strong will and loving heart, she would help anyone in need. She loved people and never met a stranger.
Anna served 36 years as a Secretary in the Research Department of Eli Lilly and Company; a job she loved. Her professional journey was characterized by diligence and a genuine warmth that endeared staff and clients alike.
Anna accepted Christ at an early age while attending Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She later united with Mount Carmel Baptist Church where she faithfully served many years. She later became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist church, where she remained a dedicated and faithful member, attending worship services, Sunday School; and later accepting a position as the Assistant Treasurer of the Trustee Board. Anna remained faithful to the Lord Jesus Christ and his church until her health no longer allowed her to do so. She was known for her genuine love and concern for her church family, especially one of the most elderly members, Mrs. Wilma Sharpe, whom she watched over with deep and devoted compassion. Anna’s spirituality was a cornerstone of her identity. Her faith guided her through life’s challenges and shaped the way she nurtured her family and friendships. Central to her life were the values of family and faith, which she considered her proudest moments.
Anna was most proud of her daughter Rita and only grandson Adrian , whom she loved dearly and often spoke about how they brought her immense joy when they were with her. She and Adrian would talk for hours about politics and world events. Over the years, she enjoyed the trips she would take to visit Rita and Adrian in Korea, Texas and North Carolina during the summer and holidays.
