

Barbara Billingsley, born on June 18th, 1935, in Hodgenville, Kentucky, entered into eternal rest, surrounded by love on March 25th, 2024. She was the beloved daughter of Elizabeth Garrett and William Montgomery, raised in the serene landscapes of Tonieville, KY, by a loving family who instilled in her the values of faith, strength, and independence.
Barbara had a special smile that could brighten any room, yet her stern demeanor could command attention effortlessly. She finished high school and became a teacher in Campbellsville, KY. Barbara was known for her strength and independence, traits that made a lasting impression on everyone around her. In her free time, she found happiness in going to the Tic Tok Café to dance and hang out with friends, she enjoyed going to concerts, bowling, and watching horse races. Barbara also had a passion for the thrill of the casino, and she traveled to casinos all around, enjoying the excitement of the games and the atmosphere. At work, Barbara spent over twenty years at RCA, where she made lasting friendships and worked hard. When she retired, her colleagues celebrated her with lots of gifts, which she still has items until this day.
But the most important thing in Barbara's life was her family. She was very proud of her daughter, son, and all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her final days, surrounded by family and enjoying her favorite meals, Barbara liked to remember the good times and the people she loved.
Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her son, Emmitt (Brenda) Handley; grandchildren: Leslie (Rico) Williams, Kiana (Cledale) Bryant, LuAnna Handley, John Handley, George (Chole) Handley, Virginia Handley, Mary Handley, Emmitt (Johanna) Handley, Smith Lee Handley, Brenda Handley, and Jessica Handley; nephew, Tommy Williams; 22 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of cherished friends who supported her through thick and thin.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Elizabeth; mother, Elizabeth Baugh; father, William Montgomery; stepfather, Donald Baugh; aunt, Virgie Grundy; sister, Lila Williams; nephew, Daryl Williams; step grandson, Troy Moore and several other beloved family members. Barbara's journey on this earth may have come to an end, but her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those she touched with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
A visitation for Barbara will be held Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM.
