

Barbara Bishop Evans 96, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Tuesday April 22, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 4, 1918, the daughter of the late John H and Mary (Monaghan) Bishop.
She graduated in 1938 from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA; later joining and actively serving in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1942 to 1945 as a Lt. jg officer. In 1945 Barbara was united in marriage to her beloved �"Jack†John H. Evans who was also a U.S. Navy officer and pilot. He preceded her in death in 1982. Barbara was a member of the Navy Waves, Clio Club, and the Junior League. She was a science teacher for Heritage Christian School from its inception until her retirement in 1982.
During her retirement she joined the Indianapolis’ New Horizons Band where she enjoyed many years playing her trumpet in their concerts. She authored a book in 1992 titled â€?"Wake Up and Look Upâ€. It is â€?"a view of God’s message in the stars.â€
Barbara is survived by a daughter, Deborah Raupp (Jay) of Manistee, MI; a son, John H Evans Jr. of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren Ross Evans Weddle of MI and twins Nicholas E. Evans and Elizabeth E. Evans of CO. Barbara spent the last six years of her life enjoying many friends she made while residing at the Berkshire of Castleton.
