

Barbara Lee Washington Jan. 26, 1941 - June 12, 2011 Barbara Lee Washington, 70, Kokomo, passed away at 3 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at St. Vincent Hospice Center in Indianapolis. She was born Jan. 26, 1941, the daughter of Charles Henry and Maria Ann Bell Osborne in Montgomery County, Clarksville, Tenn. She was united in holy matrimony to James Albert Washington on Jan. 7, 1960, at 615 N. Locke St., Kokomo. She attended Pondy Woods School in 1945, Rossview School from 1947 to 1954 in Clarksville, Tenn., Burt High School in Clarksville, Tenn., from 1955 to 1958, and Kokomo Business College in 1963. She had previously been employed by the Kokomo Center School, Howard Community Hospital, Kokomo Wire and Cable for eight years, Ayr-Way Store, Howard Community Hospital Aide, a babysitter and a librarian. She professed a hope in Jesus at Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Clarksville, Tenn., where she was a choir member. She later relocated to Kokomo, where she united with Second Missionary Baptist Church and served as a deaconess, on the usher board, Ruth Circle Missionary, Bible study, Sunday school, Prayer Hour, Winter School of Method, Vacation Bible School and a matron. She enjoyed reading the Bible and collecting traveling toys and angel dolls. She is survived by her husband, James Albert Washington; son, Albert Thomas Washington, Clarkston, Ga.; daughter, Angela Teresa Washington, Hammond; sisters, Birdie Mae Miller, Annie Pearl Kelly, Nashville, Tenn., Doris Ann (Vivan) Fairrlow, Woodlawn, Tenn., Bessie Velma (Edward Louis) Trice, Clarksville, Tenn., and Mary Helen Andrews, Nashville, Tenn.; brothers, James Robert (Augusta) Osborne, Nashville, Tenn., John Louis Osborne, Clarksville, Tenn., William Henry (Betty) Osborne, Clarksville, Tenn., Fred Douglas (Virginia) Osborne, Clarksville, Tenn., the Rev. Jesse Melvin (Sheila) Osborne, Clarksville, Tenn., the Rev. Michael Allen (Cassandra) Osborne, Clarksville, Tenn., and Joe Howard Osborne, Clarksville, Tenn.; two adopted grandchildren, Darion Nicole Liggin and Shawnte Leprece Willis, both of Kokomo; great-grandchildren, Alaysia N. Liggin and Ayanna Nichelle Liggin; and a host of other relatives and friends. Her parents; brothers, Charles Thomas Osborne and Edward Eugene Osborne; two brothers-in-law, Richard Kelly and Roland Tyler Sr.; 12 uncles; and 12 aunts precede her in death. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Second Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Robert A. Lee will be the officiant and eulogist. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
