Betty J. Higgins

88, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 16, 2011. She was born February 26, 1923 to Stanley and Lena McVay of Flint, Michigan.

Betty is survived by her husband of 67 years, Donald Mark Higgins, and her two children, Mary Ruth (Higgins) Neal (Scott) of Pocasset, MA and James Mark Higgins (Nancy) of Fishers, IN; her beloved grandchildren, Emilie and Kirk Higgins, Ryan Turmell, Scott, David and Tom Neal.

Betty was preceded in death by her Mom, Dad, five siblings and two grandchildren.

Betty graduated from Central High School in Flint, MI. She worked at AC for a few years before marrying Don in 1944 and moving to Detroit. After raising their two children, she worked at Schoolcraft College in Livonia for 7 years. Upon Don’s retirement, they moved to Bradenton, FL, where she volunteered at Blake Memorial Hospital for 20 years.
