

at the age of 88. Born in Grindstone Pennsylvania. His two sets of loving parents preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his "Bride" Robbie of 62 Years, Son, Mark (Karren) Williams; Daughter Marci (Reggie) Stevenson: A Sister, Arbella Salik;
Two Granddaughters; Sydney Williams and Cameron Stevenson; several cousins, nephews, and a host of extended
family friends.
After serving three years in the U.S.Air Force. Charles moved to New York where he met his "bride" Robbie and later moved to Indianapolis. Charles worked for Indiana Bell in Communications while earning an Indiana University College Degree.
After an early retirement in 1993, Charles, a founding member of 100 Black Men of Indianapolis, served as Executive Director for three years. He left 100 Black Men to manage a community-based organization as project Director for Training Inc/Maintenance Technical Services. A vocational educational program designed to give adults work related skills and permit them to enter the workforce whose mission was to educate adults and equip them to work in the labor force.
The Program operated out of Martin College with the late Father Boniface Harden and work permits with Charles. It was draining work and overwhelming in a not-for-profit field, writing grants, and having to ask for funds. However, he left the program with grants that enabled the program to thrive for two more years.
In 1996 he was hired as Executive in Residence at Butler University teaching Business Seminar and Career
Development in Butler's Lacy School of Business. Charles has always been interested in education, an avid reader, and loves history and crossword puzzles. He enjoys the challenge of learning something new. One of the benefits is to be able to satisfy a desire to educate young people.
Charles is a life Master Bridge Player and served as President of the Indianapolis Bridge unit and teaches a class at
Heritage Place Center for Seniors as a volunteer. . With a lifetime of Community serves, He served on the State Board 01 the American Cancer Society, Chairman of the Board of Visiting Nurses, Indianapolis Urban League, and President of Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity.
Charles is a former Board member of St Mary's Child Care Center, Advisor of the Indiana of the Indiana Catholic
Conference, served as Board Member Marion County Health Center Board of Managers, Co-chaired IPS Strategic
Planning Action for Select Schools. He served on the Infrastructure Study Commission. Charles received Community Service Awards from Indianapolis Mayor Bill Hudnut and Mayor Greg Ballard. Charles served on Heritage Place Board of Directors representing Butler University and appointed by Butler's President Bobby Fong to serve on the University's NCAA Committee.
Charles served on the Board of Martin Luther King Center and Abbie Hunt Bryce Home. He is a member of Indianapolis Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity. Charles loves sports, Indianapolis Colts, and Butler Season ticket members for over 35 years and former Pacer’s season ticket member for 25 years! Charles is a member of the Indianapolis Literary club and will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father, grandfather and committed career mentor.
