Charlie Thurman Tinch, Jr., 85, of Indianapolis, entered eternal rest on December 28, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1938 in Sparta, TN to the late Charlie Thurman Tinch, Sr., and Roxie (King) (Tinch) Sams. Charlie enjoyed attending steam engine shows and going to auctions. You could often find him reading or checking out blacksmith shops. He was a member of Salem Park Church for 50 years. Charlie retired from the Chrysler Foundry after 25 years.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ruth (Tinch) Umbarger.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley (Owens) Tinch; daughter, Lisa (Greg) Burket; son, Charlie Tinch III; grandchildren, Charlie (Leanne) Tinch IV, Alyssa (Jaron) Gibson, Austin Tinch, and Jared Burket; great grandsons, Jamin and Jason Gibson; along with his sister, Ruby Phillips.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with the Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 PM at Family Funeral Care, 5791 Rockville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46224. Burial will follow in West Newton Cemetery – West Newton, IN.
