October 13, 1948, to the late Fred and Bertha (Bradley) Shipley. Connie was the oldest of five
siblings, Pam, Fred, Aaron, and Scott.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband Mike, of 54 years , and their three sons, Steve,
Chris, and Brian. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Bertha Shipley and her
nephew Nicholas Shipley.
She was a devoted and loving mother, always putting her children's needs first. Connie
cherished her role as a grandmother to her grandchildren, Julian, Abby, Ben, Brianna, and
Beau. They brought immense joy to her life, and she treasured every moment spent with them.
Connie dedicated most of her career catering banquets, a profession that perfectly aligned with
her caring and compassionate nature. Her genuine desire to help others was evident in
everything that she did. Connie had a remarkable ability to connect with people, and she never
met a stranger. Her warm and welcoming personality made her one of the kindest individuals
one could ever encounter.
Growing up the oldest sibling and losing her father at a young age, Connie had to mature
quickly and take on more responsibility within the family. Raising three boys had its challenges,
but she tackled it with unwavering love, strength and patience. Connie's love for her children
was immeasurable, but her adoration for her grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews knew
no bounds. They were her world, and she lived to make them happy, help or support.
Eight years ago, Connie faced her first battle with breast cancer. With courage and
determination, she fought the disease and remained in remission for several years. Her
resilience and positive spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her.
Connie and Mike enjoyed their golf league at West Chase for several years. They loved
traveling to vacation with their family and visiting old friends. Connie cherished her relationship
with her younger sister Pamela.
Connie Louise Short had a beautiful soul and will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and
all of the many lives that she touched. She had a servant heart and her legacy of love,
compassion, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate
enough to know her.
A celebration of life is planned for Connie on January 20th at West Chase Golf Course Pavilion,
4 Hollaway Blvd., Brownsburg, IN 46112 from 2:30-6:00 pm. Friends and family are invited to
join in celebrating her life and sharing cherished memories.
