I recently discovered that my long time, good friend, David had passed.  I was unable to attend his services.  His passing saddens me to the very depths of my soul.  David, and I, attended school together at Centerville.  We actually looked alike in our teens and were once asked if we were brothers.  I looked at David and winked and said, "no, we're cousins".  To this very day we have never told anyone anything different, except for his wife Dottie.  We both got out of high school at about the same time and we both enlisted in the Marine Corps at about the same time, went to boot camp at San Diego at the same time, attended Advanced Infantry Training at the same time and wound up in the Staging Battalion at the same time waiting to go to Vietnam.  That is where I next ran into David.  I spotted him in the Mess Hall and hollered "Hey Cousin"!!  We shook hands, hugged each other, back slapped and laughed a lot while catching up.  We both departed for Vietnam but to different units.  I never saw David again for many years until one day, while living in Dallas, Tx I got a phone call from him.  He was in Dallas on business with Marriott Hotels and we arranged to meet the next day.  Again, "Hey Cousin", hand shakes, big hugs, back slaps and laughing while we caught up on our pasts.  We parted and I didn't see him again for a very long time.  I continued my career with AT&T and eventually moved back to Richmond, In. in June 2008.  I walked into the VFW Post 1108 in Richmond, and there to my surprise was David sitting at a table with Gene Webb.  My Dad, Bill, and Gene were good friends.  Again, "Hey Cousin", hand shakes, big hugs and back slaps were once again in order.  We shared our memories of the past many years again.  Every time our paths crossed it was like a "Family Reunion" just for the two of us!  In time, I saw David a few times and then was told he had fallen ill.  I will miss our "Family Reunions" but we will always be "Cousins".   

Dave was a very important spiritual mentor to my family his guidance will be greatly missed.

Sending prayers to the family.  Unfortunately I didn't get to see or know my cousin very well, but I have always chersished the few times I did get to share with him.  Love and prayers to all the family.

Dear Dottie and family:

I want express my sorrow for your loss. 
David bough me my first Mountain Dew. You were dating and probably stuck watching me. We were driving and he stopped at the general store in Chester, Indiana and came out with . . . I don't know what else, but a full bottle of pop for me (we weren't allowed to have that at home). He won me over that day.

I am asking God to wrap you and yours into the fold of his loving "wings" and provide comfort and peace in the day and the days to come.

Dave was a very special person to Ron Martin and I. He loved God with all his heart and it showed in how he lived his life. I remember going to Bible studies at his home and he was always well prepared for whatever we were studying. His family was very special to him also. Prayers for his family. 

No doubt he is resting on angels wings to heavenly peace. We will always remember David as a happy camper with love and gratitude. He could light up a room with his smile, wit and attitude.

Enjoyed going to his house for a Bible study once a week. Enjoyed a few motorcycle rides.

David was a childhood hero to me. He made his brother,  Mike, and I's
childhood full of beautiful memories that included him playing with us on DeLucio's property when we were 9 or 10 years old, just shortly after my family moved to Richmond.  He taught us how to make slingshot 's and we hunted with BB guns and fished. I loved him like I loved myself and I don't remember a negative thing about him and it was a wonderful time in my life and I still remember a lot of it at 71 yrs old. May God Bless him and the family.
