Dean was born in Houston, TX to Dean and Tammy Roberts on September 13, 1984. He moved to Indianapolis in October 1985. In-between making a sport out of being competitive, he found joy in playing softball, volleyball, golf, bowling and BMX riding. After meeting her in their small group, he married Kim (Dexter) Roberts on June 26, 2009 at Indian Creek Christian Church in Indianapolis.
After graduating Vincennes University with his Associates degree, Dean became self-employed as a general contractor. He learned at a young age the value of hard work and carried that through in everything that he did. If you knew Dean, you know he had the talent to fix anything. His gift for problem solving, tinkering and executing with natural ability is something he will forever be remembered by, especially as he contributed these skills to his friends and family.
When Dean was not working, you could find him dedicating his free time with Vivi alongside his faithful, supportive and encouraging wife, Kim, who never failed in her loyalty or waivered in strength. Dean was a loving father to Viviana who was the beginning and end of his world. His favorite past times with her included bike riding, swimming, Nintendo gaming, watching movies and riding scooters. Dean was a patient teacher to her, made homework time a lot less stressful and was able to explain academia with a foundational prose which aided Vivi to accomplish honor roll. He and Vivi would have sentimental and deep conversations about life, the Bible and really anything else she could think of to stall going to bed. He never turned down the opportunity to have these conversations with her, had them freely and with rapture.
Dean was a pivotal member of the recovery community here in Indianapolis. His transparent, authentic personality had a gravitational pull on those around him. His past experiences and struggles enabled him to reach men in all areas of their recovery. He also could call them out on their nonsense as he also had experience in all of that too! His genuine heart and sharing his story with what the Lord had taught him was all in the name of helping someone else. Dean never stopped reaching out his hand. God used Dean in momentous ways in these relationships in recovery rooms, with his long-term endeavor to be dedicated to a future in business by obtaining his Bachelor’s degree to open his own recovery home.
We pray that Dean is remembered by those who know and love him for his dutiful nature, genuine and authentic personality, servant heart, his willingness to be of aid, quick wit, intelligent mind and ability to love. We rejoice that Dean is free of pain and burden, and we look forward to seeing him unchained by his worldly afflictions and stresses in the afterlife.
Dean is preceded in death by Ima Jean Roberts, Calvin Roberts, Hazel Dubecky, John Richard Lee Dubecky I, John Richard Lee Duckecky II. Dean is survived by Kim (Dexter) Roberts, daughter Viviana Roberts, parents Dean and Tammy (Dubecky) Roberts, brother Jordan Roberts, sister Destiny Roberts, and cousin John Richard Lee Dubecky III (Shannon). It is important to mention the many loved ones both shared in blood and by the blood of Christ, as well as the strong bonds of friendship and mentorship Dean nurtured with care and attention.
