Rev. Doris Jean White

The Reverend Doris Jean (McKinney) White of Indianapolis Indiana transitioned from labor to reward on July 12, 2020 at the blessed age of 68. Born in Ft. Wayne Indiana, the daughter of Willie Eugene McKinney and Arnette (Riley) Brown, Doris lived a life of complete service and devotion to God. Her ministerial journey entailed being a former member of Coppin Chapel A.M.E. Church; affiliate member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church; retired pastor of Jesus C.A.R.E.S. Ministries; and the retired Director of S.E.P.P, Summer Enrichment Program. Rev. Doris was a founding member of Word of Life Fellowship Church in Lafayette, Indiana. As a straight-shooting preacher, teacher and prophetess of the gospel of Jesus Christ, Rev. Doris studied to show herself approved unto God a workman that needed not be unashamed. She graduated with a BA in Addiction Counseling, Summa Cum Laude, from Martin University.
Rev. Doris was preceded in death by both of her father’s, Willie Eugene McKinney and Rev. William L. Brown.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip White; her children, Anjel White, Rev. Kendah Ward (Brad) and Sara White; her mother, Arnette Brown; grandchildren, Shaleesa, April, Jasmine, Quentin, Azion, Zsiaire and Xzavier; great-grandchildren, Aamira, Dorryon, London, Don-Marcus, Zaynah, De'Angelo, Lauren, Demetrius and De'Vonte; siblings, Mary, William, Willis, David, Jeff, John, Rev. Monae and James; and countless God and Spiritual children whom she greatly loved.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.
