Dorothy Faye Billups

She was baptized at an early age and faithfully attended Zion Gate Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. James A. Boyd.

Faye graduated from Lee High School in Columbus, MS, in May 1973. Then later moved to Indianapolis, IN to pursue a career and be closer to her sisters, Barbara and Jane.

Dorothy began her career with OSP (later known as Lane Bryant Apparel factory) on November 4, 1974, as a Receiver. Shortly thereafter, she transferred to the Processing department as a Line Operator. Dorothy then joined the Quality Assurance department and held the position of File Clerk. She has assumed a variety of responsibilities in this department over the years with her most recent position as Quality Assurance Auditor. In 1991, Dorothy received an Extra Effort Achievement Award for her dedication and outstanding job performance in the Quality department. Dorothy retired in 2014 after 39 years of dedicated service with Lane Bryant.

Her advice to everyone is that you have to roll with the changes and keep a positive outlook.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents David and Eva Billups, siblings; Barbara (Henry)Shelton, Charles (Julia) Billups, Annie Grace Billups and Tommy (Emogene) Billups.

Dorothy leaves behind the following siblings to cherish her memory; Willie(Crème) Billups - Indianapolis, IN., Jane (Charles) Harris - Caledonia, MS., Reggie (Kellie) Billups - Indianapolis, IN., Herbert (Debbie) Billups - Columbus, MS., Tammy Billups – Richmond, VA., and Pamla (Billy) Jordan – Columbus, MS

A visitation for Dorothy will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
