Dorothy L. (Jochum) McGoff of Cleveland, OH, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2021. She was born May 28, 1929, to Stephen and Theresa Jochum.
She was a graduate of Collinwood High School in Cleveland, OH, in 1947. She met her future husband, James P. McGoff, on a blind date, and they were married on August 4, 1951. He was transferred to Indianapolis in the mid-fifties for work with Bryant H&C. In between raising six children, Dottie loved to read mysteries, was a master at bridge and euchre, and an integral part of her faith community. She was a founding member of St. Pius X parish in 1955 and, in fact, even had a short stint as the girls’ track coach, making it all the way to the CYO City Finals. After raising her family, she reentered the workforce and finished her career as an administrative assistant with ADP.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, her parents, her son, Terry and her nine siblings: Tony, Steve, Mary, Barb, Mike, Jim, Bob, Betty, and Frank. She is survived by her children, Kevin (Patty), Mary, John (Karen), Jim, and Patty (Michael) Nowlan, as well as eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Pius X on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at 11:00 and will be live-streamed on the parish’s Facebook site. In lieu of flowers or contributions, Dottie asked that you thank a caregiver who has impacted your life for their service and sacrifice.
