

Dorothy Pinella died November 22, 2015. Dottie was born in Dayton, Ohio, on February 27, 1923 to Ralph and Alma Kriplen. The family, including Dottie’s younger brother D. David Kriplen, moved frequently, following Ralph’s work, living in Kansas City, Detroit, Cincinnati, and finally settling in Indianapolis, where Dottie graduated from Broad Ripple High School.
She married Joseph T. Pinella in 1952 and they had three sons, John, Paul and David Pinella. Joe owned Joe Pinella Rexall Drugs.
Dottie was an accomplished artist and she loved all art, as well as travel, reading, history, gardening, and volunteering. She especially loved tutoring children. She was genuinely interested in everybody she met.
After showing their kids around the United States, Joe and Dottie then traveled to Europe many times. She kept a diary of her travels every evening, no matter how tired she was, and she recommended the practice.
Dottie is survived by her sons John, Paul (Karina,) and David (Vicki,) her brother David (Nancy) Kriplen, grandchildren Stephanie Pinella, Samantha Pinella, Anna Pinella and Thomas Pinella, nieces and nephew, great nieces and nephew, cousins and extended family. She is beloved by her family, her many close friends, and the community of St. Matthew.
Calling is at 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. this Friday, November 27, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 E. 56th St, Indianapolis with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
Funeral arrangements are with Feeney-Hornak. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Matthew Catholic Church, Indianapolis or The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. Arrangements under the direction of Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary, Indianapolis, IN.
