Edward Weathers

Edward Weathers, a life-long resident of Indianapolis was born January 5, 1920, to Florence Wilkins Howard Weathers and Elijah Weathers. He was one of five children which included Helen L. Weathers, George A. Weathers, Betty J. Weathers Burking and Donald Lee Weathers, all of whom preceded him in death. In addition, he had three half- sisters, Minnie I. Howard Sherley, Belle Howard, and Maude F. Howard Smith.

Edward graduated from the Indianapolis Public School system and attended Indiana University Extension. In 1940, he joined Eli Lilly Pharmaceutical Company work force. At Eli Lilly, he served in numerous positions, including supervisor and personnel representative. He retired in 1983 as a department head in the engineering division. Edward's hobbies included traveling, sports and politics.

In 1942, Edward was married to Emily Esther Chowning who preceded him in death. To this union, two children were born, Patricia Elizabethgene and Edward Eugene.

In 1973, Edward was united in marriage to Mary Frances Allen.

Edward departed this life on September 18, 2011. He leaves to cherish his memory, Mary Frances, his wife of 37 years and 9 months, daughter Patricia Weathers- Brownlee, son Edward and daughter in-law Cecelia; four grandchildren, Diarra Weathers (Dorothy), Oronde Weathers, Jamila Weathers, and John Thomas Brownlee, Jr. (Nicole), and five great grandchildren, Kariamu Weathers, Naeemah Weathers, Tandiwe Weathers, Gavin Edward Brownlee, and Deacon Nicholas Brownlee, four nieces and six nephews.

Edward will also be missed by a "special young person, Brian Thurman, Jr. as well as many close family members and friends.
