Obituary of Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Simpson
Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Simpson, died on May 30, 2021 in Carmel, IN. Born in Detroit, Michigan on January 9, 1931 to Carl and Lillian Diederich. “Betty”, to all who knew her, graduated from Dominican High School and married Don Simpson in 1952. After residing in several cities across the Midwest and raising 4 children, she and Don eventually settled in Medina, OH. There Betty dedicated her life to service, acquiring over 10,000 volunteer hours at Medina County Hospital. Betty, friendly, kind and approachable was always on the lookout for those in need. Betty and Don enjoyed traveling and were able to visit most of the US and Europe. Many fond memories were also made during family trips to Caseville, Michigan on Saginaw Bay. Betty loved being around water and had a unique ability to float for hours. In addition to her love for water and travel, she relished a good game of Scrabble, Gin Rummy or Bridge. Always the Queen of Fun, Betty was ready for any adventure. If you asked, “Do you want to go?” The answer was always YES. Betty truly cherished the little things in life. She ended each day with her “medicine” – a scotch and water or more recently, white wine. A life-long Catholic, she prayed the rosary daily. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don; sister, Mary Lou Rinke and son-in-law Howard McPeek. She is survived by her children, Kathy McPeek (Indianapolis, IN); Mary Simpson (Indianapolis, IN); Scott (Beth) Simpson (Danville, IN) and Nancy (Jim) Adams (Cincinnati, OH) as well as five grandchildren, Erin, Alex, Caitlin, Peter and Sean and one great-grand daughter, Amelia. Visitation will be held at St. Pius X (7200 Sarto Dr., Indianapolis) at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 3rd with a Mass at 11:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, OH Monday, June 21 at 2:45pm.
