Elizabeth W. Johnson was born on Tuesday, February 17, 1942 in Forest Mississippi. Raised in a home of faith, she received Christ at a young age as her personal Lord and Savior. Mother Johnson was a faithful, member of Grace Apostolic Church for over 25 years, serving in various ministries during her time there.
Ms. Liz was small in stature, yet mighty in presence. She could walk into any room and command respect. Her formal education came from Indianapolis Public Schools, but her most valuable lessons came from life. She in turn shared that wisdom with everyone who crossed her path. After 44 years of dedicated service, she retired from General Motors where she worked as machinist.
Beth or Belt was known as “dressed to impress”. Shopping, traveling, thrifting for deals, sewing, playing dominos and spades, working puzzles, watching basketball, tending to her lawn, and spending time with loved ones were her favorite pastimes. She was a socialite who adapted in any scenario, a friend to many, and one who never met a stranger.
Our Queen Elizabeth made her transition, Saturday, September 12, 2020, at home, surrounded by her family in love. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, Alonza Wright Sr., and Mary Francis Wright Hill; brothers, Alonza Wright Jr., Willie Earl Wright, James Wright, and Isaih Joseph Wright; and sister, Cora Mae Gray. Also awaiting reunification is Mr. McKinley B. Johnson.
Our Mama and Granny leaves to her legacy five children: Anita (Jeffery Thomas Sr.), Michael Sr., Bernice, Gerald (Veronica), and Anthony (Willie Mae); 23 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren; two sisters Willa Maude Day and Deloise Brown; a host of family – aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins; extended family, loved ones, and friends. Although our Elizabeth W. Johnson is no longer present, her presence will be with us always.
Humbly Submitted, The Family
