Obituary of Elsie Ann Santarossa
Santarossa, Elsie Ann, of Indianapolis, 93, passed away Friday, April 6, 2018. She was born May 25, 1924 in South Bend, IN to the late Victor and Elsie Palyai Gyorkos. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Mario Santarossa; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Santarossa; sisters, Gloria Siderits and Arlene Andert; and brother, Victor Gyorkos. Elsie had a beautiful voice and was the envy of the community for the way she voiced many beautiful Hungarian ballads. She was the eldest of 4 children and learned to cook many Hungarian delicacies by helping her Grandmother and Mother in the kitchen and lovingly passed them on to all of her children. She was a long time member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and a loving wife of 68 years, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her children, Pamela Krull (George), Teresa Piggott Kovey (Michael), David Santarossa, John Santarossa (Karen), Marie Walden (David), and Rob Santarossa (Michelle); 20 grandchildren, Ryan (Renee), Courtney (Russ Kavalhuna), Scott (Resra), and Carrie (Scott Vincent) Krull, Bryan (Holly), Brad (Mary), and Casey (Drew Keller) Piggott, Nathaniel (Cynthia), Christopher, Victoria, and Andrea Walden, and Allison, Domenic (Angela), Robert, Angela (Bernie Darko), James, Eric, Grace, Olivia, and Madelyn Santarossa; and 18 ¼ great grandchildren. Elsie also is survived by her loving sister-in-law of 68 years, Erna DeCecco. Visitation will be 10 – 11 am Thursday at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 4100 E 56th St. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 am Thursday at the church with private burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
