Juanita professed her hope in Christ at an early age. She attended Church of the First Born Saints and New Born Saints in Indianapolis Indiana.
Juanita moved to Indianapolis Indiana, she met and married George Edward Graves and to this union there were seven children, Marilyn, Barbara, Charles, George, Richard, Anthony and Elisa. Juanita was an avid Bible reader; she worked on Sunday's so therefore she sent a Taxi Cab every Sunday to take her children to Sunday school and church. Juanita valued family and education. Juanita loved to cook. She always offered anyone who came to her house something to eat be they a relative, friend or a service person. Even during her sickness Juanita had a sharp wit and a sassy tongue with no filter. She never missed an opportunity to give her own opinion, rather it was about "Ol' Rover" or "loving unconditionally" no matter the subject she did not miss a beat. Juanita would put it in a way that you make you laugh, stop and think and say "you know, since you put it that way, you're right".
July 24, 1976 Juanita married Eugene Brown. Juanita retired from the Army Finance Center in 1998. She previously worked for RCA and at Doyle's Fine Foods. She enjoyed traveling to different states to visit family and friends. She also traveled to England, Germany, took a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean and traveled to other places, but her favorite place to go to was to Coe Ridge Kentucky, she always said "there's no place like home". Juanita loved talking about her childhood memories in Kentucky. Although Juanita never drank alcohol she could tell you how to make moonshine.
Juanita leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Marilyn Davis, Barbara Graves, and Elisa (Tyree) McGraw; one special daughter, Vikki Sneed; four sons Charles (Vernice) Graves, George Graves, Richard (Melanie) Graves and Anthony Graves; one sister Mary Rowe; three sister-in-law's, Alice Coe, Shirley Coe and Bertha Coe; 15 grandchildren, 39 great grand-children and 3 great-great grandchildren. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends whom she loved dearly.
Essie Juanita Brown departed this life on Sunday August 1, 2021 at the age of 87 years 11 months and 14 days. Juanita was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Brown; parents, Ottley and Lura Coe; sisters Tessie Gibbs and Lusetta "Cozy" Holman; brothers Lyle Coe, Frank Coe, Melvin Philip Coe, Ben Coe and Morris Coe; and grandsons Derek Hughes and Jabari Davis.
