

Frank was born in Chicago, Illinois, and earned honors throughout his education receiving degrees from Loyola University and Purdue University. He served in the United States Army for over 20 years receiving several awards including two Purple Hearts.
Following his military service, Frank went on to a second career as a programmer at Anthem/Wellpoint. Frank served for many years as Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts at St. Matthew Parish. Upon retirement, he devoted his time to woodworking, fishing (always chasing the muskies in Canada), and cheering on his beloved Chicago Bears.
Frank leaves behind children Frank Baukert, Michael Baukert, Marion (Aaron) Matlock, and Kathleen (Robin) Lain. He was a proud grandfather to Damien (late), Frank, Mary Margaret, Andrew, Christopher, Kaitlyn, Ethan, Meghan, Claire, and Samantha. He also leaves his brother Emil (late wife Mary) Baukert, his sister Barbara (Ed) Crass, his daughter-in-law Heather McCormick, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary (Shannon), his parents Frank and Sophie “Sugar” Baukert, and his brother Joe Baukert.
Frank will be laid to rest with military honors at Calvary Cemetery after a Mass of Christian Burial at 1pm on May 9, 2025 at St. Simon the Apostle Catholic Church, 8155 Oaklandon Rd, Indianapolis, IN 46236. Visitation will begin at 12pm also at the church.
