Gary Bastin Sr. passed away on March 31st, 2025 in Indianapolis, IN. Gary was born on February 11th, 1954 to William and Maxine Bastin. He attended Southport High School and went on to work in the automotive field where he developed many skills of the trade, landing projects ranging from classic car restoration to participation in IRL teams where he painted for the Indy 500.
He loved all forms of auto racing and participated in countless drag racing competitions that took him through the ranks of professional and semi professional leagues all over the Midwest region. He was a decorated driver most notably earning the runner up position in the U.S. Nationals.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Bastin; and sister, Nancy Rodgers-Bastin.
Gary is survived by his son, Gary Bastin Jr.; sisters, Marilyn Thompson, Sharon Munsey, Jo Ellen Stockdale; and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held at Feeney-Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46219 on April 4th, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with a memorial service to immediately follow at 1:00 PM.
