Halstead O. Armstrong, 84, was born June 14, 1929 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He was the oldest of seven brothers and two sisters and grew up on a farm in Florence, Indiana by the Ohio River. He attended Patriot High School and enlisted in the Armed Forces in 1946. He was stationed in Soul, Korea, after returning home he graduated in 1949.
Hal was married to Wilma Jean Strutman on October 14, 1950. They had one daughter, Pam. He worked for Allison Transmission and at Fort Harrison as a Quality Inspector for the government. Hal was a Master Mason at the Mooresville Lodge, and Worthy Patron five times at the Mooresville Eastern Star. Hal is survived by his daughter, Pam, three brothers, Lynn, Jack, Carlie, and two sisters, Arabanna Harris, and Donita Dye. He was preceded in death by his wife Jean on May 5, 2008 after 57 years of marriage.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday January 7, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 P.M. in the Crown Hill Funeral Home (Remembrance Hall) with services on Wednesday January 8, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. Entombment: Crown Hill Cemetery, Field of Valor. Contributions: Wounded Warrior Project.
