

Helen Hayes, 90, of Indianapolis passed away January 18, 2015. She was born December 1, 1924 to Helen and David White. She graduated Lawrence High School in 1942 and completed nurses training at Indiana University. Helen was married to Jim Hayes until his passing in 1999. She is survived by their sons Jim Jr. and Jeffrey Hayes. She is also survived by grandchildren, Chris Hayes, Daniel Hayes, Jason Hayes, Brandon Hayes, Janelle Hayes Ehninger and Kristin Hayes; great-grandchildren, Chase Hayes, Benjamin Hayes, Allison Gebhauer, Kira and Alex Hayes, Carson Hayes, Nehemiah Hayes, Sarah Hayes, and Paige and Brooke Ehninger; brother, Bud White and sisters, Delores Van Meter and Kay Henderson. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Howard, Robert, Frank and Paul White and Gayle Livingston.
Helen was a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital Indianapolis, Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, and an industrial nurse at American Can until her retirement in 1980. She had been active in the Order of Eastern Star, Girl Scouts, St. Paul’s Methodist Church (Muncie) and Seventh Christian Indianapolis. Helen also enjoyed volunteering at the gift shop at Community North Hospital and as a reader for Pike Township Schools.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 21st from 4 – 6 pm at Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary followed by a funeral service at 6:00 pm. Interment Washington Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association.
