Herschel A. Finger Sr.

Herschel Andrew Finger Sr. was the only son of the late Dorsey Finger and Marjorie Jean Finger Hampton, born on March 21, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN. and departed this life on December 1, 2018. He attended school #87, Holy Angels, Sacred Heart and Shortridge High school.

Herschel volunteered for the Army (101 - 2nd Brigade Airborne Div.) in 1968. He received an honorable discharge in 1987 and continued to work in a civilian capacity at Fort Benjamin Harrison until his retirement in 2012. He was an active member American Legion Post #249 and AMVETS Post #99.

Herschel was a Christian and faithful member of Northside New Era Baptist Church. He loved to travel and never met a stranger. He was always engaging and loved family and friends.

Herschel is preceded in death by his wife Vicki Arnold Finger, step-father William A. Hampton (Marjorie Jean) and step-mother Carole Finger (Dorsey), Grandmothers, Nola Finger and Bessie Hayden, and his sisters: Kimberly L. Finger and Mattie Celeste Seymour.

Herschel married Kiyomi Cutino in November 1982. To this union they were blessed with Brandi Marie Finger (Heather).

Herschel is survived by his only son Herschel Andrew Finger Jr (Adrian). and daughter Felicia R. Finger, sisters Mary "Alice" Finger Martin Carter, Kassandra L. Finger-Madden and Patricia "Pat" Finger Hooks, 3 grandchildren (Michael, Kyle and Olivia), a host of nieces and nephews who he loved and spend quality time with them. Sherri Martin was a beloved niece whom he helped to raise.

Herschel will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
