James "Jimmy" Leslie Allensworth

James "Jimmy" Leslie Allensworth, age 80, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Wednesday March 20, 2019. Jimmy was born March 7, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Sylvia A. and Clarence Milton Allensworth. Jimmy was known for many things, be it his wit, his honesty, his humor, and his jokes. Jimmy was always true to himself with the innate ability to be authentic and unique. Jimmy attended Crispus Attucks High School and received his associate degree while in the Air Force. Jimmy was a proud business man. His establishments included: "Ribs & Chicks", "Shine-o-Mite", and “Payback Food Club” just to name a few. Jimmy's faith in Christ was unshakable, and his love for God and the Bible were the foundation of how he interacted with his family, friends, and anyone around him. His love for his family was expressed in special ways to his children as he showed his love and devotion with actions rather than words. Jimmy shared a close bond with his sister June, whom he affectionately called Inez. He also loved watching Jeopardy and spending time playing dominoes, bid whist, and spades with his children and grandchildren. Jimmy is survived by: daughters Andrea Allensworth, Naomi Allensworth, and Lisa (Shaun Jenkins), son David Allensworth, stepdaughter Kenya E. Tramell; sister June Inez King; granddaughters Tyoneisha (Derrick) Murrell-Plair, Nicole (Jason) Allensworth-House, Chastity Tramell, Jaya Fontanella, Shaniya Jenkins, Sarae Jenkins, and Lyric Jenkins; grandsons Dorian Tramell, Daniel Tramell, Isaiah Cowherd, Samuel Gilbert, Nathaniel Gilbert, and Logan Jenkins; great granddaughter Damaia Gabrielle Plair and great grandson Derrick Tyce Plair; nieces Sabrina (Tyrone) Jones, and Shawna King, and a host of other loving family and friends. Jimmy was preceded in death by son James Allensworth and son Kent Milton Allensworth, father Clarence Milton Allensworth, mother Sylvia A. Diggs, and stepfather Ellis James Diggs. A gathering for Jimmy will be held Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. A funeral service will occur Saturday, March 30, 2019 at 12:00 PM, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208. A burial will occur at Crown Hill Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208.
