

James Edward Benberry was born on December 4, 1933 to Andrew Thomas Benberry and Mary Francis Haley Benberry both from Grand Rivers, KY. James attended Lincoln Ridge Institute in Lincoln Ridge, KY and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis, IN.
James accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He later re-dedicated his life to Jesus and served for many years as a faithful servant and Elder at the Church of Jesus, Indianapolis, IN.
James enlisted in the United States Air Force on April 29, 1953 and was honorably discharged on April 11, 1957. During his time of service he received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
James was employed at Naval Avionics Center in 1957 as a Production Manager. He retired after 35 years of dedicated service. After retiring, James found it hard to sit still, so he spent the next 21 years as Head Doorman for Tarkington Towers Condominiums. James was a dedicated worker and he greeted everyone with a smile.
James was a man of many talents. He was very handy and could fix any electrical or mechanical problem. James could make something out of nothing - he was a regular old school MacGyver.
James’ biggest passion was his yard. He was an avid Yardsman and his beautiful yard was the envy of the entire neighborhood.
James loved to sing! You could find him on any given Sunday singing at the Church of Jesus, his favorite songs to sing were â€?"His eye is on the Sparrow†and â€?"Jesus Specializesâ€.
James was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather. He loved his Children, Grands and Greats alike. He was affectionately called Paw Paw. Paw Paw loved the babies and never missed an opportunity to bounce each of them on his knee, while he sung the �"Dee-a-lee-dee†song which he personally composed.
James was the eldest of 9 children and was seen by his siblings as not only a big brother but a father figure, someone they all looked up to and respected.
James departed this life Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 8:45pm at the age of 81 years and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Benberry, mother Mary Francis Benberry and brother Ernest Clay Benberry.

Aunts: Hattie Allison, Indianapolis, IN and Viva Pope, Dayton, OH. Devoted nephew: Jason Benberry, San Diego, CA and a host of other relatives and friends.
