He retired as a supervisor from Allison Transmission and was a member of Northside New Era Church where he had been Chairman of the Trustee Board, sang in the choir and the male chorus.
He leaves to cherish his memory, loving wife, Vera Davis; son, James Davis, Jr; siblings: Gary M. Davis, Robert “Dee” Davis, Melvin H. Davis, Lela L. Davis, Sharon E. Davis, Judy K. Davis and Helen Reeves Harris; grandchildren: James Davis, III, Jeremy, Joshua Davis; great grandchildren: Jenesyss and Jeremiah Davis; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
His visitation is Monday, Jan 19, 2015, 10am - 12pm, with service at 12pm at Northside New Era Church, 517 W. 30th Street. Burial in Crown Hill Cemetery.
