James A. White Sr. was born in Nicholasville, Kentucky to Vera Conway White and Clodus White. He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with his family as a child. He gave his life to the Lord and was baptized at an early age. Growing up in church he always had a special song he would sing and would often give a testimony.
As a young adult James traveled and sang with the famous gospel group, Flores Turner and the Jordanaires. He played the keyboard in the Devastation Show Band and appeared on The Bob Braun Show. He also was a percussionist and conga player with The Drums of Africa.
Friends, lovingly nick-named James, Cool-True Blue because he was always so well dressed.
James started his career at the Chrysler Plant and later joined the U.S. army and served in Vietnam. He was later discharged from the army due to illness.
James loved his two children dearly, James White Jr. and Cequila White Greer, and his grandson, Quilan Greer. Pastor Kenneth Ward of Community Baptist Church was James' pastor, mentor, and close friend. James also shared a special bond with his mother and called her daily. It was family and friends that stayed close to James and supported him through his hard life journey.
The Veterans' Hospital also supported and provided services to him for years, and the family is grateful for that. James worked hard in everything he did, often providing lawn care services in the community. His customers would only want him to provide their services, as he was well trusted and well-liked.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clodus White and grandmother Vera Cloyd. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Vera Price, son James White Jr., daughter Cequila White Greer, grandson Quilan Greer, siblings Dr. Rev. Kenneth White (Carline), Annetta White, Valerie Duckett (Charles), Delores Dodson (Kenny), Jay Diamond, Albert Grey, and Tyson Harris (Marsella), Aunt Frances Scott, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
James went home to be with the Lord. He is FREE now!
