

Jean was born on February 14th, 1937, in Tipton County Tennessee. She was a graduate of Frazier High School class of 1953 in Covington, Tennessee. She attended Tuskegee University on the 5-year work/scholarship plan from 1953-1958 majoring in Secondary Education.
Jean accepted a job at the Department of Defense at Fort Harrison in Indiana. She was a dedicated employee for 35 in a half year and retired as the Supervisor of Military Pay Claims Examiners in Debt Management Operations.
Jean accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of the Covington, Tennessee COGIC. She joined Sanders Temple in 19*61 and later joined Beech Grove Bible Church under the leadership of her son Dwight Washington Sr.
While at Sanders Temple she was the announcement clerk, and a member of the Hospitality Committee, Christian Women’s Council, and the Choir. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship from February 2002-January 2012.
She enjoyed traveling, shopping and watching the Indiana Pacers.
Jean married Joseph Washington on July 2nd, 1962, and to that union four children were born.
Jean was preceded in death by her Joseph Washington, her mother Paris Hall and her father Clifford Sam Hall.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two sons, Dwight (Dwanda) Washington Sr. and Clifford (Stacey) Washington, two daughters Laconia Washington and Angelita Washington, 11 grandchildren, Dwight (Tatyana) Washington Jr., Latoyia Rhodes, Arian (Rodriquez) Pedtke-Sherman, Dondiego Rhodes, Daesha Washington, Deona Rhodes, Cameron (Ashley) Glover, Jala Washington, DaeDreona (Tory) Hamilton, Beauty Dabney, and Maliq Washington. 35 great-grandchildren and her longtime friend Brother Levon Sanders.
A visitation for Jean will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Crown Hill Funeral Home & Cemetery, 700 W. 38th St., Indianapolis, Indiana 46208, followed by a celebration of life at 12:00 PM.
