Jeanette Marie (McCarty) Corrigan

Jeanette Marie (McCarty) Corrigan, age 63, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023. She was born March 25, 1960 in Indianapolis to Norman and Inez "Ann" McCarty. She grew up in the Little Flower Parish and attended school there. Jeanette graduated from Our Lady of Grace Academy in 1978. After high school, she went on to St. Mary of the Woods in Terre Haute where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Early Special Education.

Jeanette was very passionate about her career and all the children she taught. She had a true gift for observing her students and identifying their needs. Her interest in teaching began at a very young age, however, when she volunteered as a Teen Tonics for the local Cerebral Palsy Clinic, it fueled her passion to become an early special education teacher. Throughout her 40 years of teaching, she worked for St. Mary's Child Center and Noble Centers, both in Indianapolis. She worked for the Burlington County Hospital System in New Jersey. She then went on to work for the Prince George's County School System in Maryland for 30 years. She retired from teaching in 2021.

Jeanette met Brian Corrigan at a high school graduation party around 1978. Brian knew right away he wanted to marry Jeanette. Her kindness and smile melted his heart. Jeanette and Brian married on January 9, 1982 at Little Flower Parish in Indianapolis. They would go on to have 3 daughters together, Kaley, Maureen and Colleen. The family moved to College Park, MD in 1990. Jeanette and her family were members of the Holy Redeemer Parish there for over 25 years. Brian and Jeanette moved back to the Indianapolis area in 2021. Jeanette was a devoted wife and mother, and loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed arts and crafts, sewing, drawing, painting, baking, and singing. Jeanette was a gentle, kind and warm person that everyone loved to be around. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Jeanette is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Brian Corrigan; daughters, Kaley (Matthew) Corrigan-Martin, Maureen Corrigan and Colleen Corrigan; mother, Inez "Ann" McCarty; siblings, Scott (Eran) McCarty and Marianna McCarty; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Jeanette was preceded in death by her father, Norman McCarty.

A visitation for Jeanette will be held on Sunday, July 2, 2023 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46219. A funeral mass will take place on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Little Flower Parish, 4720 E. 13th St, Indianapolis, IN 46201.

A Memorial Mass for Jeanette will be held on Saturday, September 30th, 2023 at 11:00 AM followed by a Memory Sharing Luncheon at 12:00 PM at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 4902 Berwyn Rd, College Park, MD 20740.
