The end of life, too full to be confined in writing, too noble and beautiful to be described by the tongue would take all the lives touched by Jerelene Vaughn Ford to complete the description of her earthly journey. Jerelene's life began on November 24, 1934 in Jackson, Mississippi. She was the second child born to Robert and Sadie Shirley Vaughn.
Growing up in a Christian home, she professed Christ at an early age, which she continued throughout her lifetime. After graduating from Jim Hill Jr. Sr. High School, Jerelene decided to relocate to Memphis, Tennessee where she met and married the love of her life J. D. Ford. This union witnessed in front of God continued for almost sixty years of marriage, until God decided to call JD to his heavenly home. A journey we all must take one day.
On July 13, 2025 at Life's Journey Hospice in Indianapolis, in his own way and for his own purpose God picked one of His Flowers to join his heavenly bouquet. His choice, Jerelene Vaughn Ford now etched in history as the beginning of her Heavenly journey.
She had an extensive employment history; one in particular was her tenure as a millinery associate of which she possessed a special and unique quality of her creativity of being crafty with her hands. Also for a period of time she was an apartment manager, later she was employed with the VA Medical Center from which she retired. She remained active in her church until her health began to fail. During her latter years in life Jerelene's specialty was listening and offering advice as she saw fit, reading her bible and showing love and affection to her family, friends and associates.
To celebrate her life and mourn her transition are her three sons: Derrick (Shelly), Harold (Monica), and Bruce Ford; along with her loving sisters Sarah Vaughn and Jacqueline Vaughn Butler, both of Jackson, Mississippi, and her granddaughter Olivia, her four grandsons Jerold, Damon, Andrae, and Austin, two great grandsons Xavier, Jeremiah, and a host of nieces and nephews and family members. Her eldest sister Mary Louise Vaughn Hopson and her brother Frederick Vaughn preceded her in death.
A visitation for Jerelene will be held Friday, July 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Pleasant Union Baptist Church, 1202 Eugene St, Indianapolis, IN 46208, followed by a Celebration of Life at 12:00 PM.
