

Joe entered the US Army in October 1949 and ended his tenure in July 1972. Throughout his military career he received many medals including 2 purple hearts, a Bronze Star Medal and 2 Meritorious Service Medals.
Joe then went on to work as a manager at Kroger and Co as well as Major General Emmet J. Bean Federal Center at Fort Benjamin Harrison where he retired in 1997. He then worked at Meijer before leaving in 2009 to spend time with his beloved great-grandson, Ethan.
Joe was a member of Swingin’ Singles Square Dance Club and the Indiana Dancers Association holding many offices in both. He was the Registration and Housing Chairman for the 48th National Square-Dance Convention that was held in Indianapolis in 1999. Joe was also a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
Joe is survived by his wife, Vincena (Teena) Soto; children, Katherine Shannon (John) of Costa Mesa CA, Russell Soto of Cypress, CA, Cathy Kirkham (Tony), Theresa Wethington (Perry) and Tim Doan; brother, Henry Mory of Placentia, CA; 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews in California and Indiana. Joe was preceded in death by his son, Joe Soto; daughter, Tamara King; and parents, Natalia Aguirre and Jose Dolores Soto.
A visitation for Joe will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Feeney Hornak Shadeland Mortuary, 1307 N. Shadeland Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46219. A second visitation will take place on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM also at the mortuary. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM at Little Flower Catholic Church, 4720 E. 13th St. Indianapolis, IN 46201. Joe will be laid to rest with full military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery in Indianapolis.
