

Jack was born April 24, 1947, in Cincinnati, Ohio to William and Grace (Straus) Ross. He graduated from Cathedral High School in 1965 where he was awarded the City Athlete of Year. He received his degree in Industrial Management from Purdue University in 1969 and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Indiana University in 1974. On June 14, 1969, he married Sharon L. Pehler, his wife of 48 years. Jack was a distinguished professional which included various roles within private law practice, attorney for the Indiana Senate, Director of Hoosier Lottery and Director of Legislative Services Agency. He was a three time recipient of the Sagamore of Wabash from multiple Indiana governors. He enjoyed playing golf, reading and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, other family members and friends.
Jack is survived by his wife, Sharon, his three sons, Brian and his wife Dione of Orange County, CA, Justin and his wife Kim of West Lafayette, IN, and Greg and his wife Tracy of Indianapolis; as well as nine grandchildren, Andrew, Morgan, Peyton, Lauren, Lindsey, Amanda, Madison, Jack and Hanna.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am, Monday, July 3rd at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 5692 Central Ave in Indianapolis. Visitation will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary on Sunday, July 2 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday.
